Introduction about Global Warming

For 2.5 milion years the earth’s climate is fluctuated . Cycling from ice ages to warmer periods. But in the last century the planets temperature has risen unusually fast about 1.2 to 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Scientist believe its human activity that driving the temperatures up . A process known as global warming

What is greenhouse effect

Ever since the industrial revolution began factories , power plants and evatualy cars have drawn   fossil fuels such as oil in fuel releasing huge amount of carbon dioxide and other gases into the atmosphere.  These greenhouse gases trap heat near the earth to a naturally occurring process call the greenhouse effect .

The greenhouse effect begins with the sun and the energy radiated to the earth . the earth and the atmosphere absorbs some of these energy for the rest is radiated back into space. Naturally occurring gases in atmosphere trap of the energy and reflected back warming the earth.

How Greenhouse effect is been intensified and its evidence

Scientist now believe the greenhouse effect is been intensified  by the extra greenhouse gases that humans have released. Evidence for global warming include recent string a very warm years. Scientist report that the 1998 was the warmest year in measured history with 2005 coming in second. Meanwhile reading taken from icecore show that the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane are there highest level in the past 420 thousands years .

Arctic sea ice is also shrinking. According to NASA study the extent of Arctic sea ice has declined about 10% in the last 30 years. As long as industrialized Nations consume energy and developing countries increase the fossil fuel consumption. The concentration of greenhouse gases in atmosphere will continue to rise.

What is the impact of global warming

Researchers predict that temperature will increase 2 to 10 degrees fahrenheit the end of the century. What happen if the rising temperatures will continue for the planet ? Some climate model predict several  changes. Other forecast rising sea levels which could flood coastal areas around the world . weather pattern could change making hurricanes more frequent. Severe drought could be come more common in warm areas. And species unable to adapt to the change in conditions would face extinction .

What did I do to reduce Global warming

Although much remains to be learned about Global warming. Many organisations advocate cutting Greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the impact of global warming . Consumer can help by saving energy around the house ,  switching to compact fluorescent light bulb and driving fewer miles in the car. These simple changes may help keep air cooler in the future.
